My entire clinical practice is rooted in social justice, being trauma-informed, and individualized care; I believe that clinical care cannot be great in quality unless it is individualized and holistic.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with nearly four years of experience working with individuals, couples and families. I received my Master of Art in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California. I have worked in a wide variety of settings including sliding scale community non-profits, community mental health organizations that are county-contracted, and private practice. I have worked alongside clients in nearly every life stage from many different backgrounds. In my practice, I support clients in finding healing through post-modern approaches, ERP (for OCD and related disorders), skill building, and working to explore how we can be mindful about our feelings and live a value-based life. I really believe that healing is possible and that it can be achieved through community, resource building, and deconstruction of the ways we feel, the ways we perceive ourselves and the issues we are experiencing, as well as how those things came to be.
I am very open about my own struggles with OCD and other related mental health disorders as they have served as points of connection between my clients and I. I specialize in working with clients who struggle with OCD and utilize a combination of ERP and post-modern approaches to support those clients in healing.
My training is rooted in trauma-informed healing, cultural-sensitivity, anti-racism, and client-informed approaches. At the core of my clinical work lies a strong sense of anti-racism and constant search for areas where I can improve, both as a person and a therapist to each of my wonderful clients. As a practice owner, I work to ensure that each of my staff is aligned with our practice values of building a healing space rooted in social justice and anti-racism.
When I am not working, I love to spend time with my family and friends (human and canine), my wonderful partner, goofing around on Therapy TikTok (@Therapist_Farah), and in nature. I also love trying new foods, cooking, and activities like riding my bicycle, going on walks, and running (super slowly haha.)
