I’m dedicated to offering socioculturally attuned care that takes into account the diverse backgrounds and values of my clients, grounded in principles of social justice. Recognizing the uniqueness ofo each individual, I put in the effort to comprehend their family history, cultural influences, and generational patterns. This allows me to pinpoint the origins of their challenges and create a well-informed and effective path for their journey toward healing.
I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with nearly three years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UCLA and my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. I have worked in both community mental health organizations and private practice. I have worked with clients from toddlers all the way to older adults (65+) from a variety of backgrounds. I work from a Bowenian Family Systems based perspective, while employing client-centered and CBT based interventions to help my clients. I firmly believe that the intricate interplay of culture, religion, ethnic background, socioeconomic class, sexuality, gender identity, and systemic forces each significantly shape our challenges, perspectives, and the pathways we navigate toward healing in therapy.
My practice is rooted in providing trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC affirming therapy to my clients from a socioculturally attuned lens. I understand and respect the individuality of each client's experiences. I approach our sessions with the awareness that no two clients are the same. It's important to me that my clients never feel burdened with the task of educating me about their culture, religion, or any other aspect of their identity. Instead, I strive to proactively learn and create a space where clients feel understood and accepted without the need to be their own cultural educators in our therapeutic relationship.
When I am not working, I love to spend time with husband, my dog Milo, and my cat Finn. I love traveling, if I’m lucky abroad but if I’m in California, you’ll find me in Big Sur or Lake Tahoe. I am the kind of person that can quote shows, songs and movies throughout daily conversations and apply them to what you’re currently going through, so please share your favorites with me.
